What is Cold Brew Tea?
Cold brew tea is a method of making tea by steeping loose leaf tea in cold water for several hours. This allows the tea to release its natural flavors and antioxidants without extracting any bitterness or astringency. Cold brew tea is smoother, sweeter, and more refreshing than hot brewed tea, and it is ideal for making iced tea drinks. Want to learn more about cold brewing? How to Make Strawberry Cream Soda Cold Brew Tea
Ingredients:
To make this strawberry cream soda cold brew tea, you will need:
- Strawberry fruit tea: You can use any kind of strawberry fruit tea that you like, but we recommend using a strawberry lemonade loose leaf fruit tea for a zesty and tangy twist. We are using the Bird & Blend Strawberry lemonade Loose Leaf Fruit Tea, made with dried strawberries, apple pieces, hibiscus flowers, rose hips, lemon peel, natural flavors, and more. It has a vibrant red color and a sweet and sour taste that goes well with cream soda.
- Cream soda: You can use any brand of cream soda that you prefer, but we suggest using a natural cream soda that is made with cane sugar and vanilla extract. This cream soda has a rich and creamy taste that balances the acidity of the strawberry tea. Alternatively, you could make your own homemade cream soda. Check out this homemade cream soda recipe for more info.
- Fresh strawberries (optional): You can use fresh strawberries to garnish your drink and add some extra fruitiness. You can also slice them and add them to the cold brew bottle for more flavor infusion.
How to Make a Strawberry and Cream Cold Brew Tea:
- Add 3-4 teaspoons of strawberry fruit tea to a bottle/cold brew bottle/jar with a lid (add more or less depending on strength preference). This will be the base of your cold brew.
- Pour in a can of cream soda (about 350-450ml) over the tea leaves. Make sure to leave some space at the top of the bottle for expansion. This will add some fizz and sweetness to your cold brew.
- Place in fridge to steep overnight, or for a minimum of 2 hours. The longer you steep it for, the stronger the taste will be! You can also shake the bottle occasionally to mix the ingredients well.
- When you are ready to serve, strain the cold brew into a glass with ice using a fine mesh strainer or a cheesecloth. This will remove any tea leaves or sediment from your drink.
- Garnish with fresh strawberries for a fruity addition! You can also add some vanilla ice cream for a decadent treat.
