Sage is a wonderful herb that has been used for centuries for its medicinal and culinary properties. It can help soothe a sore throat, improve digestion, and reduce inflammation. It also has a pleasant aroma and a subtle flavor that can enhance any dish or drink. In this homemade recipe, we use hazelnut syrup for sweetness and flavouring. Hazelnut syrup is a popular ingredient that is often used to flavor coffee, tea, and other beverages. It adds a rich and creamy texture and a delightful sweetness to any drink. It also pairs well with many herbs, spices, and fruits.

Cold brew tea is a method of making tea that involves steeping the tea leaves in cold water for a long time. This results in a smoother and less bitter tea that has more antioxidants and less caffeine (if using tea leaves) than hot brewed tea. Cold brew tea is also more refreshing and hydrating than hot tea, especially on a hot day! Learn more about Cold Brew Tea: The Ultimate Guide for Refreshing Tea Lovers.

To make this sage and hazelnut cold brew tea, you will need the following ingredients:
  • Fresh or dried sage leaves
  • Hazelnut syrup
  • Cold water
  • Ice cubes
You will also need the following equipment:
  • A glass jar, pitcher, or airtight container
  • A strainer
  • A measuring cup and spoon
  • A glass or a mug

The steps to make this sage and hazelnut cold brew tea are very simple and easy. Here they are:

  1. Rinse and pat dry about 10-15 fresh sage leaves. You can also use 2 teaspoons of dried sage leaves if you don’t have fresh ones (use more if you prefer a stronger sage flavor).
  2. Place the sage leaves in a glass jar, pitcher, or airtight container and fill it with 4 cups of cold water. You can adjust the amount of water and sage leaves depending on how strong you want your tea to be.
  3. Pour 2-4 teaspoons of hazelnut syrup into the mixture. You can use more or less syrup depending on how sweet you want your tea to be.
  4. Cover the jar, pitcher, or container and refrigerate it for at least 8 hours or overnight. The longer you steep the sage leaves and hazelnut syrup, the more flavor and benefits you will get from them.
  5. Strain the tea and discard the sage leaves. You can enjoy your sage and hazelnut cold brew tea as it is, or add some ice cubes to make it extra cold and refreshing.

So now you have made a delicious and healthy sage and hazelnut cold brew tea that you can sip and savor anytime you want. You can also experiment with different variations of this recipe. Here are a few suggestion you could try:

  • Try adding some spices, fruits, or other herbs to the mixture. For example, you can add some cinnamon, cardamom, or cloves to give it a warm and spicy kick.
  • Add some lemon, orange, or apple slices to give it a fruity and tangy twist.
  • Add some black, green, or herbal tea leaves to give it a more complex and robust flavor. This is also great if you want the added caffeine-boost.
  • Add hazelnuts to give it even more of a nutty taste
  • Add your own sweetener of choice to make it even sweeter. Just make sure to dissolve any sugar if you use it. Simply mix it into a little hot water first to dissolve it. Otherwise, use honey or syrups.
  • The longer you leave it in the fridge, the stronger the taste will be!
