One day, in the late 1960s, a woman overheard him ordering the drink and asked for the same thing, saying “I’ll have that Arnold Palmer drink, too.” And thus, the drink’s name was born.

  1. Wash and dry 4 lemons. Cut them in half and squeeze the juice into a measuring cup. You should get about 1 cup of lemon juice.
  2. Strain the lemon juice through a fine-mesh strainer to remove any seeds and pulp.
  3. Add water to the lemon juice until you have 2 cups of liquid. You can adjust the amount of water according to how tart or diluted you like your lemonade.
  4. Taste the lemonade and add more sugar if needed. You can also add a pinch of salt to enhance the flavor.
